Choosing a Drive Letter App Briefcase assigns its own drive letter, chosen by you, to your USB drive while App Briefcase is running. The letter you choose will always be assigned to your drive by App Briefcase regardless of what computer you plug the drive into. Always use the App Briefcase assigned drive letter when installing apps to your drive and when opening or saving files on the drive. More info... Choosing an Operating Mode Normally, you will want to run App Briefcase in owner mode on computers you own. Owner mode is more efficient and works by simply keeping the computer's program settings up-to-date with the program settings managed by App Briefcase. More info... When you run App Briefcase on a computer you do not own you will normally want to run it in guest mode. Guest mode is less efficient than owner mode, but it ensures the computer's program settings are restored to there original values when App Briefcase exits. More info... The Apps List The list of apps shown in App Briefcase's main window is a list of all of the non-portable apps App Briefcase has found on your computer. After you install a non-portable app to your USB drive (use the App Briefcase assigned drive letter!) then start and close the app, click the Refresh button in the toolbar, find the app name in the list, and mark its check box. You're done! App Briefcase will take care of setting up that app's program settings on whatever computer you plug your USB drive into. More info... The Tray Menu App Briefcase places a briefcase icon in the taskbar tray. A menu appears when you click the briefcase icon. The menu is customizable and is used to start apps installed on your USB drive. More info... Using App Briefcase
Important Note: Always start App Briefcase before running other apps from the USB drive!
