The Configure Tray Menu window can be displayed by either selecting Configure Tray Menu from the tray menu or by clicking the the Configure Tray Menu button on the App Briefcase toolbar.

Tip:Program files and program shortcuts can be dragged-and-dropped on the Configure Tray Menu window as an easy means of adding a new app to the tray menu.
Tip:If you are installing App Briefcase on a USB drive that already has lots of apps then you can quickly add those apps to the App Briefcase tray menu all at once. Use Windows Explorer to search for all EXE files on the USB drive. Select all of the EXE files in the search results list and then drag-and-drop them all at once on App Briefcase's Configure Tray Menu window.

Configure Tray Menu Controls

New Item - Adds a new menu item, new menu separator bar, or new submenu to the bottom of the menu or to the bottom of the currently selected submenu.

Delete Item - Deletes the selected item from the menu.

Move Item - Changes the position of the selected menu item within the menu.

Sort Item - Sorts the menu items. Select any menu item in a submenu and then click Sort to sort the menu items of that submenu.

App Name - The name of the app as it should appear in the menu.

App Location - The file path location of the app's program file. You may specify separate 32-bit and 64-bit file paths if desired. This is useful if you have both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of an app on your USB drive. In that case, when you select the app from the menu App Briefcase will automatically choose the correct edition of the app to run depending on whether App Briefcase is running on the Windows 32-bit edition or the Windows 64-bit edition. Note that all 32-bit apps will run on both 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Windows, so you only need to specify the 32-bit file path location if you don't have a 64-bit edition of the app.

Parameters - Allows command line parameters to be specified when starting the app, if desired.

Window State - Determines whether the app's window is normal, minimized, or maximized when the app is started.

Auto Start - Determines whether App Briefcase automatically starts the app when App Briefcase is started. You can specify whether an app should only be started when App Briefcase is running in owner mode or when running in guest mode, if desired.

Tip:If the app's file location is on a drive volume that is not yet present when App Briefcase starts, or if the Parameters field contains a reference to a drive volume that is not yet present, then App Briefcase will postpone starting the app until whenever the necessary drive appears. This is useful if, for example, your USB drive contains a TrueCrypt volume that contains some of your apps or contains data required by those apps. App Briefcase will automatically start those apps when the TrueCrypt volume is mounted.

Menu Item Visibility - Determines whether the menu item is actually displayed in the menu. This feature can be used to display a different configuration of the menu depending on whether App Briefcase is running in owner mode or guest mode. It can also be used to hide menu items that are only used to auto-start apps.
